Spring 1997 The Official Newsletter from Polo of Dayton
HOORAY!
It is almost time for the 1997 Polo Season to get underway. You can almost
hear the thundering of hooves, smell the fresh cut grass, and enjoy a lazy
Sunday afternoon of socializing.
From our first match on June 8th through the season ending Dayton Invitational
Tournament & Winefest, 1997 promises to be another great year for making
and renewing friendships, enjoying some family entertainment, and watching
the exciting sport of Polo in Dayton.
One special date to be aware of is the August 3rd match, which is part of
the Waynesville Bicentennial Celebration. We are proud to be a participant.
You'll notice in this year's schedule that we will not be hosting any matches
over holiday weekends. And, although Saturday matches met with some success
last year, we have returned to an all-Sunday schedule, except of course
for the season ending two-day tournament.
Other notable changes include:
° A reduction in the price of Golden Patron tables to only $200 for
the 1997 season.
° Voltzy's Wiener World returns to Dayton Polo, but currently only
for the Aug. 3rd and Oct. 4th & 5th weekends. Picnic baskets and cooking
out are encouraged (although soft drinks and snacks will be available at
the 7th Chucker).
° After the match entertainment will be provided as often as our budget
will allow.
If there is an activity that you would like to see added to our plans, please
let us know. (But don't be surprised if we ask you to take charge of the
project.) It is your Polo Club too!
There are many ways to show your support for Dayton Polo, many of which
are discussed in this newsletter. Also, don't forget to bring your friends
and family along, as we hope that 1997 sees a wider awareness of Dayton
Polo and how much fun it is.
1997 WORK WEEKEND INFO

BILLBOARDS
A popular way to advertise at the polo field continues to be the South Goal
Billboards. These large, durable, and highly visible signs promote your
company all season long to the Polo faithful (a pretty good demographic).
New placements are $150 for the first year, with annual renewals of just
$100. Please contact us for information about getting your sign produced.
Call Bill Whalen at (937) 848-2122 with questions or comments.
Polo Program & Advertisements
The 1997 polo program is in the works and we welcome your involvement
and comments. A program for each season has been a traditional staple at
Dayton Polo. It gives spectators a chance to learn more about the sport
and the players. It also gives us a chance to thank those patrons and volunteers
that make our Sunday afternoons in the sun possible.
Advertisements have been the primary vehicle that has paid for the production
of the programs over the years. We appreciate our advertiser's support year
after year in helping preserve this tradition.
This year's program is being produced by the fine folks at The Dayton Planet
magazine. We thank them for their involvement and look forward to their
continued participation.
1997 program advertising rates are as follows:
Full Page, Full Color $425
Full Page, Black & White $325
Half Page, Black & White $200
Quarter Page, Black & White $125
Now is the time to place an ad in the program. Please direct any placements,
questions, or comments to Tracy Nogle of The Dayton Planet at (937) 224-0013.
