Spring 1998 The Official Newsletter from Dayton Polo

Let the Games Begin!

It is almost time for the 1998 Polo Season to get underway. You can almost hear the thundering of hooves, smell the fresh cut grass, and enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon of socializing.

From our first home match on June 7th through the season ending Dayton Invitational, 1998 promises to be another great year for making and renewing friendships, enjoying some family entertainment, and watching the exciting sport of Polo in Dayton.

One notable change:

° A reduction in the price of Golden Patron tables to only $150 for the 1998 season.

If there is an activity that you would like to see added to our plans, please let us know. (But don't be surprised if we ask you to take charge of the project.) It is your Polo Club too!

There are many ways to show your support for Dayton Polo, many of which are discussed in this newsletter. Also, don't forget to bring your friends and family along, as we hope that 1998 sees a wider awareness of Dayton Polo and how much fun it is.

WANTED: Match Sponsors

Are you or your company looking for a polo match to call your own? Well, then you are in luck as home matches are available for personal or corporate sponsoring.

Levels of sponsorship can range from a few extra passes for your friends to come out and picnic fieldside to hosting a large outing for your employees or customers.

In the past, businesses have also sponsored tournaments and awarded trophies to the victorious teams.

And of course you will be made a part on any Dayton Polo communications (programs, newsletters, etc.), throughout the season.

Please call Duane and/or Dawn Golden at (513) 897-POLO with questions.

BILLBOARDS

A popular way to advertise at the polo field continues to be the South Goal Billboards. These large, durable, and highly visible signs promote your company all season long to the Polo faithful (a pretty good demographic).

New placements are $150 for the first year, with annual renewals of just $100. Please contact us for information about getting your sign produced. Call Bill Whalen at (937) 848-2122 with questions or comments.

Polo Program & Advertisements

The 1998 polo program is in the works and we welcome your involvement and comments. A program for each season has been a traditional staple at Dayton Polo. It gives spectators a chance to learn more about the sport and the players. It also gives us a chance to thank those patrons and volunteers that make our Sunday afternoons in the sun possible.

Advertisements have been the primary vehicle that has paid for the production of the programs over the years. We appreciate our advertiser's support year after year in helping preserve this tradition.

This year's program is being produced by the fine folks at Maximum Printing & Graphics. We thank them for their involvement and look forward to their continued participation.

1998 program advertising rates are:

Full Page, Full Color $425
Full Page, Black & White $325
Half Page, Black & White $200
Quarter Page, Black & White $125

Now is the time to place an ad in the program. Please direct any placements, questions, or comments to Tracy Nogle of Maximum Printing & Graphics at (937) 294-0121.

ATTENTION: VOLUNTEERS WANTED

Many have been asking how they can get involved with Dayton Polo. It is really quite simple, just call Duane Golden at (513) 897-POLO.

Would you like to work with the horses on Sunday afternoon? The players can always use another groom to lend a hand.

Help is also needed is several areas including promotion, events, grounds, and game-day activities. Volunteers are an essential part of Dayton Polo. We can't do it without YOU!

The Stick & Ball is published as the Official Newsletter from Polo of Dayton. Admissions and comments should be sent to: The Stick & Ball, c/o Dayton Polo, 9594 Bellbrook Rd., Waynesville OH 45068.
